Digital Sound Recording CLASS

student collaboration in Studio A

Where Music is the Key to My Soul!

Are you a Singer or Music Artist? Do you already make beats? Dance? Have you ever deejayed or played your playlist at an event? Are you a writer of Spoken Word Poetry or Lyrics? Do you rap, or write spoken word? Do you play Corridos or cover music of some of your favorite bands? Do you want to learn to record bands or run the sound board? Do you already use FL Studio or GarageBand or BandLab? Do you already have your music out on Soundcloud or Spotify? Do you want to learn how to play an instrument but never got the chance? Do you want to be a Voice Actor or Sports Announcer or create Sound FX for Film or Games?

If you answered yes to any of these, sign up for Digital Sound Recording.

Students in Digital Sound Recording will learn the basics of computer music production and recording. Students will learn how to create and operate a digital audio workstation creating their own sounds, sampling, and using MIDI devices. Students will learn the science of sound, signal flow, bussing, and FX in analog & digital mixing as well as how to record live instruments, use of microphones and when to use them, and how to produce and setup a live show.

Students will learn to manage and produce a studio session, work with different audio file types, editing and sound engineering, the difference between notes, chords & connections; how to run a live digital audio session; how to track, edit and mix their own music; the reasons for creating music or sound-bytes for different purposes; and the music business, law and how to market and promote your sound in the real world use.

In this course, students gain valuable hands-on practice for recording engineering, mixing and mastering, songwriting, live show production, gigging, contracts, copyright, and the laws & promotion required for success in the Music Business. Students from this particular program build on the knowledge of previous students into student-selected career pursuits as they explore Project Lifecycle and Project Management skill-building applicable to all workforce fields.
